Right. Why not?:)Fine by me.I do like the new 'SR log file written to tested drive', but it'lltake a while to train my fingers for SHFT+ENTER to get through it(with intent). It seems odd, but as one of the 3 choices (with ESCand ENTER being very logical) and the history of SHFT+ENT usage, I'llmanage. Just tossing this out. By comparison, you shouldSEE the on-the-fly over-temperature screen. A built-in,three-item menu selection and lots of clear dialog. I can always fix that later.
But having an intercept on thatwas IMPORTANT, and it couldn't want to v6.0+ as was suggested. So it got something fast rather than deep.
But at leastsomething. Just tossing this out.

There must be dozens of 'on my radar' posts, that have eithersilently fallen through the cracks or have made it onto a list there, but are not slated for 6.0 I should imagine. It would be great (asyou mentioned elsewhere) to see the 'good ideas' list some one ofthese days when time permits. Repeat, when 60 is out and BamBam bornagain.
What would 'nocfg' do? Not read the CFG or suppress updating?Originally, suppress all writing attempts to any existing or non-existing CFG file.
An override argument. (But read CFG and use iffound)However (and this is for later) CFG n (and LOG n) could bemulti-purpose toward an end result that all aspects of SR can beentirely controlled and automated via CL arguments.Which reminds me. I presume SR still stops with Critical and Problemdialogs even when running with AUTO and EXIT.Nothing as I see it that needs to make it into 6.0 Gold. Haven't seen much in the way of comments about the command line features here at all. There was some, by just a few of us, waaaay back when it wasn'tworking right yet. A scattering since then usually centering around something like the.EVIL. and UNDOCUMENTED and secret 'NOATA' argument.Have you donesr6r019?yet?For one thing, only a fraction here really would want to use CLarguments in their entirety. Myfavorites have always been NOFINGERPRINT(assumed now defunct) andNOBLANKING. for the unabridged version, see Mark V's post above Which reminds me.
I presume SR still stops with Critical and Problem dialogs even when running with AUTO and EXIT.Yes. I'm flipping 'Auto Mode' off all over the place beforepresenting any critical dialogs. Nothing as I see it that needs to make it into 6.0 Gold.I'm going to take Pete Holzmann's comment about the 'R' and 'M'on the level setting panel to heart and change them to 2 and 4.I've told the user why, so it's not expecting too much for themto use the corresponding numerals. And it DOES then also serveto be prepping them for the harrowing user-interface they'reabout to have to contend with! -Steve Gibson, finished with.
for the unabridged version, see Book's post above Steve, I think the UI is fine the way it is. I totally agree with your response regarding time restraints and function over form. It's true that I just wouldn't trade a single iota of functionfor form here.

thanks you bought Spinrite 5 fairly recently, from Steve's e-commerce system, then the transaction code that you will have received by email at the timeis what you need. I just want to know weather a user is using my site and get a count of those users. Simple right. Here are the methods that I have tried. 1- DB: If you set a flag in the db when the user logs in there is no way to know weather they logged out or now, they could just leave the site.2- Session: I tried using the global.asax session start event to set a flag which works great but the issue here is that the session end event does not hit when the sessionstate is StateServer or SQL.
